WHY VOTE YES?

In 2002 and again in 2007, voters approved this funding as an investment in excellence for Minnetonka Public Schools.  It is scheduled to expire in 2017. If it is not renewed the district would be looking at cutting 13% of its annual operating budget.

Strong Academics
  • In 2001, Minnetonka's average ACT Score was 23.1 (just 1.0 ahead of the state average). In 2015, graduates posted the highest ACT score in school history 26.9 (3.9 points ahead of the state average).

  • At the start of Kindergarten, Minnetonka students are pretty close to on par with national norms. This is data for the AVERAGE student in Minnetonka.

Fiscally Responsibile
  • During the great recession, Minnetonka was the only district in the metro area that did not cut programs and services. Instead, the District focused on creating innovative programs that attracted students into our schools and revenue grew with enrollment growth.

  • The last time the District asked voters to approve a referendum was 2007. Since that time Minnetonka School District has used those funds efficiently.

  • Minnetonka’s per pupil funding is $451 below the state average. We rank 167/332 school districts in general fund per pupil spending.

  • District’s financial management is recognized with a Moody’s Aaa Bond Rating (one of only three districts in the state and 70 in the nation: 99.5 percentile or Top 1% nationally for all school districts).  Like a high credit score, the bond rating means lower interest rates for the District.
